After that he has graduated the post-graduate study from the Gnesins Russian Academy in 2005.
In 1997 Dmitry Kalinin becomes the soloist of the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments of the Russian State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company (Chief-conductor - N. Nekrasov).
Since 2001 Dmitry Kalinin works together with the winner of the international competitions, pianist F. Now he is a soloist of the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments of the Russian State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company, and accompanied by this glorified collective he has recorded for Russian radio and TV channel "Culture" a number of compositions of various genres and forms. He recorded 4 arrangments of russian folk songs by A. Shalov, musuc by A. Danilov, N. Budashkin and consert for balalaika with orchestra by A. Marchakovsky for Russian National music fond.
Dmitry often performes as a soloist with Ossipov's Balalaika Orchestra (conductor - N.Kalinin, now - V. Ponkin), the folk orchestra "Moscow" (conductor - I. Gromov), V.Petrov`s orchestra of Gnesins academy and other orchestras. He worked with such conductors as V. Fedoseev, S. Skripka, P. Sorokin, V. Ryabtsev etc.
Mr. Kalinin has performed at the best concert halls in Russia and abroad, including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Concert Hall "Russia"and the Hall of Columns at the House of Unions in Moscow; Merano Concert Hall, Santory-Hall (Tokyo) and "Minato mirai" (Yokohama) and many others.
His balalaika sounds in many movies, such as: "The Siberian barber" (by N. Mikhalkov),"The Tender Age" (by S. Solovyev), "New Bremen Musicians" (by G. Gladkov) ,"Under the Polar Star" (by M. Voronkov), "The Heated Saturday" (by A. Mitta), "Again It Is Necessary To Live" (by V. Panin), "Collective Farm" (by M. Voronkov), " Impudent " (by A. Surikova) ets.
Nowadays, mr. Kalinin closely works with contemperary composers, such as Valery Biktashev, Svetlana Novikova-Borodina, Andrey Semenov, Sergey Levin, Aleksey Sokolov, Aleksandr Milovidov ets. Majority of their works are dedicated to him. Also Dmitry Kalinin composes music himself. Hi has music for balalaika, domra, piano and ensamble of russian folk instruments. "The Russian Duet" is always open for new contacts both with composers and with musicians-performers.
Dmitry Kalinin took part in projects of Russian bards T.Shaov, Gr. Gladkov and I.Rosa, he made recordings for radio-performances, theatrical performances and TV programs. Also Dmitry gives masters-classes and solo conserts in different regions of Russia and abroad: Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Turcey etc.
In november 2004 in Moscow were publicated 2 music editions of original music for a balalaika and piano "By Dmitry Kalinin and Phillip Subbotin repertoir" where have been published Dmitry`s own compsitions, and music works devoted to him.
